Important Rules to Know

90/180 Rule

You can stay 90 days within any 180-day period. Days are counted from entry to exit, not calendar months.

Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from the Schengen Area.

ETIAS Coming 2024

Starting 2024, Americans need ETIAS (€7, valid 3 years) for Schengen travel. Similar to ESTA for USA.

Proof of Onward Travel

Border officials may ask for return ticket, accommodation bookings, and proof of sufficient funds.

Track Your Days

Use the Schengen calculator at ec.europa.eu to track your 90/180 days

Travel Insurance

Highly recommended. Some countries may require proof at border

Overstay = Ban

Overstaying can result in fines and future entry bans. Track carefully!
