I’m SK Kutubuddin, the founder and editor of Travel and Time. I trained as an aeronautical engineer and spent close to two decades around aircraft and the logistics of moving people across the world. That’s where my fascination with routes, distances, and airports began — and it’s the expertise I bring to the calculators and guides on this site, where getting the numbers right genuinely matters.
I write from Kolkata, India, and most of my own travelling has been across this country — long overland journeys that taught me the unglamorous, practical side of travel: planning routes, pacing long days, and the small realities of actually getting from one place to another. In 2015 I spent 45 days in Saudi Arabia, a slow and formative trip that has stayed with me, and that shaped how I think about distance, time, and the patience a real journey asks of you.
Travel and Time pairs that background with careful research and methods I’m willing to show. I review every tool and formula for accuracy — the distance calculator, for instance, uses the haversine formula with a road-circuity adjustment — and I stand behind what’s published here. Where a figure is an estimate, we say so. You can read more about how we work in our editorial standards.
