The one size that fits (almost) everywhere

If you would rather not think about this on every trip, a bag of 22 x 14 x 9 inches (56 x 36 x 23 cm) or smaller clears every major US airline and some full-service carriers such as British Airways, Singapore and Qantas. For the strictest budget and international airlines, size down to around 55 x 35 x 20 cm and keep the weight under 7 kg. Buy slightly under the limit, because airlines measure wheels and handles too.

Always verify before you fly.Carry-on limits change and vary by fare class, route, and aircraft type. This checker uses each airline's published limits as of June 2026; confirm the current allowance on your airline's own website, especially for budget and international carriers.
